Lypack was originally established in 1912 by Jan-Evert Scholten under the name Lijempf (Leeuwarder IJs en Melk Producten Fabriek). In 1973, Lijempf was taken over by Royal Wessanen, after which the company, now spelled Lyempf, began focusing on export under the Bebelac brand name. After 20 years, Lyempf became part of Nutricia and, in 1999, assumed the name Lypack when it was taken over by its current owner, Hyproca Holding.
